Reviewing Group Dynamics
Up to this point, I feel that we have worked well together in a group. Everyone has made an equal input to creating ideas and developing them into acts. We've listened to each other well and are taking on board what everyone has to say. We've done this by brainstorming on large paper and having several discussion until concluding upon our decided structures for the stories we pitched.
I see my part in the group as someone who is making sure everyone is included in contributing ideas; I feel that this is because I am aiming to go for the role of director, so want to make sure that I can communicate with everyone and know them well enough for them to approach me with ideas comfortably.
Although we have not always agreed on ideas or have ended up changing them completely, we have not had any major disagreements which is good for the dynamics and efficiency of our group work. From next week, we'll begin setting a story in stone so that Marlon can begin writing the script; as he has said he would be interesting in taking the role of writing the screenplay.
I also feel that the workshops we've done on rigging sets and camera equipment have helped us understand each other's areas of study better. We've been able to work alongside the theatre students to understand how they would plan, design and construct a set; and in turn, they have worked with us in understanding the set up of a camera and the basic theory behind it. I feel that this has been a key part in making the group function on the same page; the ice breaking point is finished and we have knowledge of each other's study which will help us create a film that has had the best work we can input.
