Researching Shot Types
Cinematography notes:
·
Dolly zoom effect from Jaws
- Thought this might be good for elongating
the hall to give the stretch perception of the character and how it makes his
adaption to his disability more challenging.
- Jaws (1975) Director: Steven Spielberg, Cinematographer: Bill Butler
·
The
Untouchables god/birds eye shot for kitchen scene. Extended view of
vulnerability. Despite it being used in this film to make Al Capone look like he is standing up; showing he never lets himself sit down and be off his guard, we would use it for the opposite effect as an extreme surveillance on our character; to show the extent of the struggles he faces as a newly disabled person.
- The Untouchables (1987) Director: Brian De Palma, Cinematographer: Stephen H. Burum
·
Fight Club
opening credits pull out shot. Could use the same principle in our film; pull out from
pupil to body showing his full composure and body language of our character.
- Fight Club (1999) Director: David Fincher, Cinematographer: Jeff Cronenweth
The opening shot of Skyfall. Shallow depth of field, Bond begins in the background then walks into focus in the foreground. Large contrast of tone with the use of a back-light as Bond walks into frame as well. This is how I envision the hallway to be.
- Skyfall (2012), Director: Sam Mendes, Cinematographer: Roger Deakins
